Done Deal – Chelsea Target Signs After £25m Release Clause IS Triggered

According to reports, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has recently suffered a setback in the preparations for the 2015/2016 season. Mourinho’s long-time target, FC Porto Striker, Jackson Martinez- who has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge- recently instead signed a four-year deal with Spanish clubside, Athletico Madrid.

The 28 year-old forward was on fire as usual in Porto’s colours last season- as has been the case since his arrival at the club a few years ago. He is known for having a unique goal-sense and his ability to create goals out of the blues. He has scored almost a hundred goals in over 130 appearances in Porto colours since his arrival.

Following the departure of Ivorian Didier Drogba away from the Stamford Bridge at the end of last season, and given the Blues’ injury concerns of Talisman Diego Costa and the uncertain future of new loanee-recruit Radamel Falcao, the Portuguese manager was believed to be close to sealing a deal for the player in order to fortify the Blues’ attacking department.

However, as it stands, with Martinez preferring a move to Atletico Madrid, it appears Mourinho would have to take his tentacles elsewhere as he searches for a new striker to balance up his squad, ahead of the new season.
