According to unconfirmed reports, Chelsea target and Anderlecht and Serbia International striker, Aleksandr Mitrovic is set to complete a switch to English side, Newcastle United.
The 20 year-old striker, who scored almost two dozen goals in Anderlecht colours last season, is heavily linked with a by Chelsea: as Blues Manager Jose Mourinho looks to add more firepower to his team, following the departure of club legend, Didier Drogba.
Despite reports that Anderlecht have agreed to a deal of around €19 million with Newcastle and that the only hindrance to the player’s move is a medical screening- which he will reportedly undergo in the coming days- Chelsea are believed to be confident of landing the player anytime soon, given their financial power.
Coming from the same boyhood club as former chelsea man, Romelu Lukaku, the player will certainly answer to some of Jose Mourinho’s striker worries, despite having the volatile Diego Costa and uncertain Radamel Falcao, as well as Frenchman Loic Remy. Strong in the air and on land and reliable on the breaks, the player is certainly a bright prospect for the game, and would certainly add extra firepower to the Chelsea forward line.
Given his relatively inexpensive fee, the Blues’ may be expected to leapfrog Newcastle and land his services soon.
