The Brazil international fullback joined Chelsea last summer with Diego Costa after a phenomenal season at Atletico but he has failed to dislodge right back turmed left back Cesar Azpilicueta from the starting line up.
Speculation has been rife linking him with a move back to the ‘Rojiblancos’.
“After arriving back in the Spanish capital on Tuesdat, this morning the left-back met with ‘Rojiblancos’ sporting director José Luis Caminero to thrash out personal terms. Atleti are to pay Chelsea €16 million for the Brazilian, €4 million less than they received for him last summer”. Marca
Chelsea would now be looking out for a replacement and ever since the Filipe Luis rumours started, the blues have been linked to Baba Rahman a young Ghanaian international left back who is currently contracted to Augsburg.
The Ghanaian international will face an uphill task (if signed), in dislodging Cesar Azpilicueta from the starting line up as Mourinho has publicly backed him as one of his favourite players.
With Filipe Luis departure imminent, the blues faithful will be hoping that this transfer is completed quickly so he can set about bedding into the Mourinho system.
