Done Deal – Liverpool To Confirm £150,000-A-Week Deal For Star

Daniel Sturridge have been reported to have agreed a new 5 year deal with Liverpool and he is set to join Steven Gerard as one of the highest earners at the club. Sturridge who has played in both Manchester City and Chelsea struggled to perform before his switch to Liverpool. He has since become a key player for the reds since his arrival and if generating reports are to be believed, Liverpool has done well to tie down the 25 year old English striker.

The unavailability of Sturridge has cost Liverpool this season with only one match out of six won in his absence. Sturridge together with Luis Suarez formed a formidable attack last season with the former scoring 21 league goals in 29 matches and his fire power has been missed this season. Moving to Anfield has helped the English striker and he has repaid the faith shown in him by Brendan Rodgers. Liverpool have been lifted by the form of teenager Raheem Sterling while Mario Balotelli has been struggling to adapt to life in his second spell in English football. Liverpool is currently placed in the second half of the Premier League table and they will be hoping Daniel Sturridge will return in their next fixture against West Brom.

There are doubts as to whether Sturridge will perform without Luis Suarez  but he has shown what he is capable of in the beginning of the season and his absence have been felt by Liverpool. Liverpool holding on to him with a new five year deal is vital and key for the future of the club. The Reds don’t possess the financial power of Real Madrid and Manchester United and it’s important they hold on to their best players. With the recent responsibility placed on Jordan Henderson, the team looks to be preparing for the future. Sturridge at 25 still has many years to keep playing at the top with Raheem Sterling improving consistently, Mario Balotelli ready to improve on his performances and recent signings like Lallana, Markovic, Moreno all having age on their sides, Liverpool will be a force to be reckon with in the nearest future.

Brendan Rodgers will be excited to have Sturridge commit himself to the club as the manager’s rebuilding of Liverpool continues. It will take a lot from Liverpool to keep up with the financial pace of other Premier League rivals and holding on to players like Sturridge will also encourage players to come to the club. Sturridge, like Steven Gerard will probably be a club icon later in the future and may be the main source of goals this season except there is a drastic change in Balotelli’s play. In the nearest future, making a top four place is paramount and a deal such as this will help the team settle and concentrateon the challenge they are faced with.
