Done Deal – Manchester United CB Target Signs, Four Years Deal Done And Dust

Manchester United target Stefan Savic is officially an Atletico Madrid player. The Montenegrin player who was also linked to Arsenal was signed by the Spanish for 8.3 million euros from Fiorentina with Atletico Madrid midfielder Mario Suarez expected to move in the other direction.

The defender is meant to be a replacement for Joao Miranda who left Atletico for Inter Milan earlier in the transfer window. In an emotional farewell to the club he said “I’ve come to the end of this great adventure with Fiorentina, I’m very sorry to leave Florence and my teammates, I’ve got along with them very well over the years. Now I’m ready for a new challenge with Atletico, I hope Fiorentina continue to fight to reach important objectives. I thank the President, the director Prade and everyone at the club. Ciao Florence and forza Viola!”.

The 24 year old who plays as a central defender can also be deployed in the right position of the defence. Stefan Savic racked up a lot of important statistics for Fiorentina last season in terms of blocks, interceptions, duels won and tackles as he was a key member of the squad that helped Fiorentina finish fourth in the Serie A last year. Stefan Savic is a very determined individual that never backs away from a tackle and is very strong in the air.

It is of no wonder that United were after the 24 year old, the Montenegrin footballer possess great qualities that can make him a defender to watch out for in the future. With Manchester United still needing a central defender before the season starts, I expect Louis Van Gaal to act like a wounded lion after being beaten to the signature of Stefan Savic and step up the chase of other defenders being linked to United such as Otamendi and Sergio Ramos.
