Done Deal – Manchester United Has Signed “Exceptional Talent” For £12.7m – Claims Argentine
Following his stellar performances in the Serie A, Italian fullback Matteo Darmian caught the eye of Manchester United and they succeeded in luring him to Old Trafford ahead of all other suitors.
The former Torino right back earned the praises of manager Louis van Gaal after his impressive displays against Tottenham in the new Premier League season curtain raiser on Saturday which United won 1-0 courtesy of a Kyle Walker own goal.
Darmian was strong throughout the minutes he played before he was replaced by Antonio Valencia as he received a roaring applause from the Red Devil fans at Old Trafford, and also a man of the man award slightly edging out Chris Smalling.
One of Torino’s former scout Luciano Zavagno has said the fact that Darmian is being lauded is of no surprise to him and the praises he has received are deservedly earned, writes Sport Witness.
Zavagno who signed for Chelsea two days ago to scout for the west Londoners over in Argentina says the Italy international defender’s rise to prominence is highly expected and deserved.
“Matteo is something exceptional, he said to Toro news (per Sport Witness).
“You could see straight away that he had an impressive amount of talent, as well as the right mindset to break through.
“He just needed the time to grow and mature. He deserves this opportunity and I’m sure he will take it properly.”
Darmian was signed by United earlier in the summer for £13m and with Rafael Da Silva making a switch to the Ligue 1 with Olympique Lyonnais, the Italian seems to have earned a starting role at right back ahead of Ecuador’s right winger turned right back, Antonio Valencia.
