Done Deal – Manchester United January Defender Target Agrees Deal

Manchester United target Morgan Fox has just recently signed a contract extension with Charlton Athletic amidst interest from the Red Devils. It is understood that the interest from United saw Charlton Athletic hand Fox a new deal in order to ward off interest from the Red Devils. Morgan Fox has emerged as a shock target for the Red Devils after the lengthy injury suffered by Luke Shaw.

This new contract extension which will expire in the summer of 2018 should make it relatively difficult for United to sign the 22 year old. The news of the contract extension was announced through the club’s twitter account as they tweeted : “CONTRACT | @MA_Fox pens contract extension that commits him to Charlton until June 2018 #cafc”. The 22 year old is no stranger to first-team action as he has successfully managed to tie down a starting berth at the club.

His impressive showing for Charlton has earned him attention from Louis Van Gaal who is in dire need of a left-back and also a call-up to the Wales squad. Morgan Fox has started all Charlton Athletics’ games this season even getting on the score sheet with a quality strike against Queens Park Rangers.

While Morgan Fox’s contract extension gives Manchester United a little set-back in their pursuit of the 22 year old, it does not make it impossible to land him. In terms of financial and club stature, Manchester United have what it takes to bully Charlton Athletic into selling Fox. It seems highly doubtful that Morgan Fox would also resist moving to a club like United hence Charlton would find themselves in a dilemma if United show strong interest. In the end the contract extension would only put few extra amount on Fox’s asking price and will prove nothing of a stumbling block to United if they do come calling.
