Done Deal: Manchester United sign Swiss youngster, player’s father confirms the news

Manchester United have done some tidy business in signing a promising Swiss youngster from FC Zurich. Promising youngster, Nishan Burkart, has confirmed via his father that he will be at the Manchester United academy next season. Manchester United will be pleased to capture the signature of Burkart, as he’d been on the radar of many European clubs for some time.

Burkart failed to agree terms with FC Zurich and the club have agreed a compensation package that will allow his move to go through. FC Zurich president, Ancilo Canepa, admitted that although he would have preferred the player to stay, he could see that Burkart had his mind made up.

Burkart’s father, Stefan, broke the news to Swiss newspaper Blick who first reported the finalized deal stating that he wanted to join Manchester United for years: ‘Now however, he no longer suffers, he is looking forward to Manchester United.’

The Old Trafford academy has an illustrious reputation as one of the top facilities in the world for churning out great football players. Eyes will be on Burkart for the next few years to see if he might warrant a place in the Manchester United starting line-up. If he shows promise, he is likely to be loaned to a lower league club for some experience before returning to try his luck in the first team.

Burkart can look forward to working under former Manchester United Nicky Butt and under 21’s manager Warren Joyce.
