Manchester United’s defense has endured a tough season of ups and downs, plagued by injury and inconsistency, but one young starlet, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, has shined when given the opportunity leading to many fans calling for more first team action.
Dutch media are reporting that in order to secure his services for Holland in the future, they need to play him sooner rather than later. Fosu-Mensah has been involved with the Dutch national team at the very youngest levels but he is also eligible to play for Ghana.
Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad reported that they had received information to state that Ghana wanted to persuade Fosu-Mensah to play for them. The Dutch team is in a period of transition at the moment which started with them failing to reach the Euro’s.
He could be called up to the senior national team as early as May this year as Holland face Ireland, Poland and Austria in friendlies. Blind would be looking to secure the services of this future star and give some other youngsters a run-out.
This does beg the question, if Timothy Fosu-Mensah can get a Dutch call-up, then is there a possibility that another Manchester United teen sensation, Marcus Rashford, could be in line for a possible England call-up. What about using him as back up for Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy?
