€25m Bid Made For High Rated Arsenal Striker Target

Goal understands that Basel have rebuffed a €25m offer from Wolfsburg for Arsenal target Breel Embolo.

The aforementioned source claims the Switzerland international has attracted a lot of interest from several European sides including Serie A champions Juventus as well as Premier League outfit Everton.

Embolo, 18, has attracted huge interest after rising through the Basel academy and making his international debut for Switzerland back in March. Although Wolfsburg, Juve and Everton are interested in signing the Basel forward but it is the Bundesliga outfit that showed interest in the player at first. As per Goal, Wolfsburg have made an offer of €25m to sign the striker.

The BuLi giants have already beaten Juventus to the signing of one player this season – Julian Draxler – and have gone into battle, once again, with the Bianconeri for another hotly-tipped star.

Juventus sent scouts to watch Embolo in action during Basel’s 2-1 win over Fiorentina in the Europa League in September and they are keen to continue to keep tabs on him in the coming months before making an offer.

Basel are yet to put a price tag on Embolo as they are reluctant to part ways with the Cameroon-born striker, but should they decide to sell they will be seeking an amount higher than the €25m currently on the table from Wolfsburg.

Last season, Embolo bagged 16 goals for the Swiss champions and Arsenal could do with the quality possessed by the energetic forward.

Arsenal will have no problem landing Embolo given they have not made use of their transfer war-chest as they were the only team out of all Europe’s top leagues to not sign a single outfield player.

Signing Embolo would provide enough depth for Arsenal upfront and of course help push Arsenal towards league glory.
