€25m Rated Liverpool Target Gives At Move, Weeks After Club Director Confirms Deal Is Likely

Corinthians striker Alexandre Pato has hinted at a January move to the premier league, according to the Daily Express. The former AC Milan star has been linked with a move to the Premier League in recent times following his exploits in the Brazilian Serie A, whilst his current club’s deputy director of football, Eduardo Ferreira, has confirmed “enquiries” for the striker.

Indeed, Ferreira told Globo Esporte (via the Express report): “If a club comes in with an offer of €25m [£17.5m], we will let him go.”

Recently Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been linked with a move for the former AC Milan striker and recent reports even go as far as to suggest that Liverpool are currently in talks with player. Pato is currently on loan at Brazilian club Sao Paulo but when asked of the possibility of a return to Europe Pato said: “I do not know, I hope soon.”

Liverpool are in need of a better goalscorer, with the Merseyside club finding it hard to score goals week in week out. Pato scored 18 goals in his second season back at the San Siro and a similar goal tally would be welcome at two teams who are keen on signing a proven goal-scorer.

Pato has bagged 10 goals and chipped in five assists so far this season in the Brazilian Serie A, in a ploy to breathe life back into his faded career. The Brazil international, who still has loads of potential, has featured 31 times for Corinthians this season, making 32 key passes in the process.
