England manager voted for Manchester United striker at Ballon d’Or

Cristiano Ronaldo was tonight voted the best player in Europe after winning the Ballon d’Or for the first time since 2008 when he was at Manchester United. Along with the Brazilian Ronaldo, they are the only players to have a five year stretch between claiming the award.

England manager Roy Hodgson voted for Cristiano Ronaldo as his first choice, followed by Zlatan Ibrahimovic and then Manchester United striker Robin van Persie, whose goals last season helped secure a record breaking 20th title for the reds.
