Everton Injury News – Another Star Could Be Out For Several Weeks

Everton has been left licking their wounds and counting their losses after today’s match against Manchester’s United. The Toffees not only dropped all 3 points as they lost 2-1 to the Red Devils at Old Trafford, they also lost one of their key men. Young defender John Stones injured his ankle in the course of the game and manager Roberto Martinez has revealed that the young English international could be watching proceedings from the sidelines for a couple of weeks.

“John Stones has a problem with his ankle. It will be at least a few weeks [until he recovers],” he told reporters. “I don’t expect John to be fit for next week. It is such a massive blow because he plays with an incredible arrogance. We will assess him in the next 48 hours.”

It hasn’t been the start to the season Everton hoped for. They have been struggling in the league ( well, they now have played all the big teams bar Manchester City ) and already out of the Capital One Cup. Martinez and Everton fans would have hoped for a better start to the season especially after forking out almost 30million Pounds to sign Lukaku on a permanent deal from Chelsea but that hasn’t quite worked according to plan.

Lukaku hasn’t really hit high notes so far this season and is poor form isn’t unconnected with strings of injuries he has had to battle. The Belgian striker isn’t the only one that has had to battle injuries, influential midfielder Ross Barkley has also been down.

Now, they have to cope with the absence of another key player Stones. In the absence of Distin, Stones has been an able deputy. If Everton are really keen on improving on their 5th place finish last season or even maintaining that because some teams would be coming for their jugular this season, they have to solve their injury crisis and make sure they have back all their key playes, Barkley been the most important.
