Everton Star Suffers Massive Injury Blow, Out Of Man United Clash

Belgian attacker, Kevin Mirallas may be out for a while after suffering a hamstring injury at the weekend in the Merseyside derby. Everton manager, Roberto Martinez is already scared of the worst possible outcome as the club awaits news over the extent of the injury. With initial suggestions, the winger could be out for up to four weeks and may miss important fixture like the Old Trafford visit to play Manchester United.

Definitely a big blow for the English club and the manager will have to make do with the players at his disposal in next few games. Mirallas who have always been a fit player according to the manager will also hope to return to first team action as soon as possible. There may be other players to fit into the team in his absence but the Belgian have shown his importance at the club since his arrival and a quick recovery will boost the team’s attacking options. Samuel Eto’o Fils and Lukaku are both available for selection in the attack with Leon Osman, Pienaar and others also available but the creativity and attacking initiative of Mirallas will be missed immensely in the next few weeks.

In between the Premier League games are UEFA Europa league matches and a relatively small squad in terms of quality like that of Everton will be hoping for more of periods without injury problems. A full fit team is needed in their European engagement as well as important league fixtures in their race to win a champions league spot at the end of the season. Everton in 2013/2014 season came close to making the top four but ended up behind Arsenal in 5th position and have however improved since Martinez took over last season. The recent 6-3 loss to Chelsea showed how strong they are and their intention to win matches and with last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Liverpool, they have what it takes to go all the way.

However Mirallas seem to be one of the consistent players in the club and the club will be hoping for a quick recovery form the injury just as it has always been with him. The manager’s comment and statement about Kevin expressed how important he is to the team and the manager. Kevin Mirallas will have to return on time to full fitness for Everton in order to assist the team in picking up important points in their bid to finish high up on the table and possibly challenge for a top four finish again.
