Finally Revealed: Why Brazilian Superstar Left Chelsea

David Luiz had parted ways with Chelsea in the summer of 2014, to join current French Ligue 1 leaders, Paris Saint-Germain. The Brazilian will be facing his former club today in the Champions League when Chelsea and PSG come head-to-head in the knock-out stage round match.

This isn’t the first time Luiz will face his former club, as he had faced them last season and also scored a goal against the Blues.

The 28-year-old has started in 25 games for PSG in all competitions this season and has also managed to score two goals. He has added two assists to his name so far, and appears to be enjoying his time in France.

The Brazil international has recently revealed in an interview, his reasons for parting ways with Chelsea. The defender does not hold any hard feelings against the club, but simply states how it was time to move on.

Speaking to Rio Ferdinand on BT Sport, he said, ‘It was difficult (to leave) but sometimes you need to understand the cycle has finished.

‘And it was the right moment to leave and I did well because I am so happy now like I was at Chelsea. Enjoying my life and career.
‘I am so thankful for Chelsea for everything and my history there was great, helping the team to win their first European title and their second. It was good.’
