First January Signing? Arsenal Close To Signing High Rated Star Ahead Of January Window
Arsenal have been reportedly keeping tabs on Dynamo Moscow centre forward Aleksandr Kokorin and they will attempt to sign him upon the re-opening of the January transfer window, this is according to The Sun.
The Gunners attempted to sign the forward during the summer transfer window but could not complete the deal. It is now understood that Arsenal will offer £7 million for the 24-year-old in January.
Kokorin will run out of contract at the end of this season and the reports suggest the Russian club will be looking to cash in on the player before the expiration of his contract.
Arsenal are without depth in the attacking front with Welbeck still out injured. And Wenger has been heavily criticized for failing to add striker to the team before the transfer window closed. Walcott is currently an option for Wenger is attack but his indifferent form has left the Gunners with no choice than to add a natural striker and Kokorin seems to be the man.
Kokorin is a mainstay for his club and can play across any position in attack. He may not be in the stead of Arsenal’s summer targets Benzema and Cavani but his presence would have provided more options for Wenger in attack.
