First mega deal for Klopp? Liverpool entered talks to sign £58m-rated midfield star

Liverpool have entered into negotiations with Monaco to sign their midfielder Thomas Lemar at an estimated fee of £58m. The youngster is yet to play for As Monaco for a year, having joined the French side from Caen on Jul 1, 2015, but he is already targeted by big clubs like Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich.

Thomas Lemar is only 20 years old, and given his performance at the Stade Louis II, there are all indications that he is on his way to international football stardom. His five goals and three assists in 24 Ligue 1 appearances are enough to prove that the attacking midfielder can go far in his football career.

Perhaps that is why the Reds contacted his representatives to begin discussions that may see the player in a red jersey for the English side next season, according to L’Equipe. He has a contract with AS Monaco till 2020.

Liverpool may however have to pay a record fee for the French international. AS Monaco are known for their promising youngsters, the most notable being Antony Martial who was bought by Manchester United last year for the same fee that Liverpool are expected to pay for Thomas Lemar.

With Martial excelling at United, Liverpool hopes that Thomas Lemar will be their Antony Martial. These two players may reignite the longtime rivalry between these two clubs.
Plans of a major overhaul at Liverpool are already taking shape, with several players rumored to be on their way to Merseyside. Indeed, you will never walk alone.
