Former Arsenal star gives verdict on Ibrahimovic joining Gunners

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not join Arsenal, according to Martin Keown, former Arsenal centre-back. The Swiss captain has been linked with a move to the North London club, after winning all the possible domestic titles he could win with PSG.

At the age of 34, Zlatan is still one of the most-sought after strikers in football today, after scoring 32 goals in 27 appearances for PSG this season, helping them to clinch the Ligue 1 title. His contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in the summer, and the talisman is yet to sign a new contract, since a move is imminent.

Arsenal missed a rare opportunity to sign young Zlatan, and Keown believes that lady luck will not knock twice at Arsenal’s door, with other great European clubs like AC Milan, Juventus, Inter Milan, Ajax and Barcelona also interested in the marksman’s services.

It is worth noting that Ibrahimovic has already played for all these clubs in his career, and that is why a move to Arsenal where he has never played has been the more likely.

According to Koewn, Zlatan will remember that Arsenal opted not to sign him several years back and consider other options. Moreover, his attitude could be the opposite of what Arsenal is looking for, having failed to win the Barclays Premier League even after fielding several big names in football. The transfer costs will also be high, and Arsene Wenger is not a fan of big money transfers.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic could however bring a winning mentality that is lacking in the current Arsenal squad. He may be older than most Arsenal players, but with his current form, we can clearly say that Old is gold for him, although it is never the case in active football.
