Four Talking Points from Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Bournemouth – on Title Race, Cech, Ramsey and More
Arsenal stopped their runs of four games without a win in the Premier League by claiming a 2-0 win over Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium yesterday.
The Gunners also broke their run of three games without scoring a goal when Mesut Ozil put them ahead in the first-half.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain soon doubled the lead, and the North London managed to see out the rest of the game without creating too much trouble for themselves.
Here are the main talking points from the game from Arsenal’s perspective:
1) The Gunners are back in title race
It was a must-win game for the Gunners. Otherwise, they would have found themselves eight points behind leaders Leicester City.
Next Sunday’s Arsenal vs. Leicester City will be a hugely significant game in the title race now.
2) Petr Cech is worth every penny
The Czech goalkeeper was again in good form today as he made a number of good saves.
He has proved to be an astute buy for Arsene Wenger and behind Mesut Ozil, he has arguably been the best performer in the Arsenal’s squad.
3) Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain grabbed his chance with both hands
The England international was handed a rare start by Arsene Wenger, and he took full advantage of the opportunity.
He scored his first league goal of the season, and his performance will give him perfect launch-pad to build up his confidence for the latter stages of the season.
4) Aaron Ramsey put in an MOTM performance
The Welsh midfielder was popped up everywhere on the pitch today as he put in a perfect box-to-box midfield performance.
His key pass led to the opening goal by Mesut Ozil and a minute later he provided an assist for the Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s goal.
He was rightly given the MOTM award for his performance.
