Giroud out? Wenger keen to sign Argentina striker for £25million
Arsene Wenger has come under increased scrutiny for finishing the season without a trophy once again. The ‘invincible’ season where his side went the entire Premier League campaign without losing seems a distant memory now as his side battle for 3rd in the league once again. Some fans have called for a change in manager, but Wenger has firmly told the fans that he is going nowhere for now.
He might be forced into dipping his hand into the Arsenal wallet though, with fans unhappy at the lack of strike options available. Arsenal have a lot of attacking talent at their disposal when everyone is fit and in form, but that happens to be a rare occurrence these days.
With that in mind, Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi has been touted as a possible buy for Arsenal, although a lot of other clubs are watching the Argentinean.
Icardi has bagged 15 goals this year, making him the third highest scorer in Serie A, trailing Paulo Dybala by a few and Gonzalo Higuain by some distance. Icardi is highly rated across Europe and Manchester United are also keen.
The Daily Mail reports that the Arsenal boss is keeping tabs on Icardi, with a view to a possible £25million move for him. It might spell the end of Olivier Giroud’s Arsenal career, with the Frenchman reportedly wanted elsewhere more than he is at Arsenal.
