While Manchester United fans are busying arguing if club legend Ryan Giggs or the self-proclaimed “Special One” should be their next head coach comes the summer, one thing is certain, the club board are already the spending spree.
It is reported that Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain, is their No.1 target. He was rumoured to be in Manchester with his girlfriend to look for new houses. Diego Maradona, his Argentine counterpart with have links with his current club Napoli, has been spreading the news to local Italian television in the past few days.
It is also no surprise that the Red Devils are hunting down natural goalscorers, as they have been lacking firepower upfront, with only Wayne Rooney the only established frontman this season.
The England striker, who himself is having a frustrating season so far, have been struggling for form and fitness, suffering multiple niggling injuries.
With a petty seven Premier League goals this season, he looks to be off his peak of his career. The once dubbed Golden Boy in England has also been frustrated at being used in midfield positions by current boss Louis Van Gaal.
Playing in different positions in different matches has seemed to cause his loss of form as well. With the current pool of average players around him, he has also struggled to create for others, who the lack of movement and understanding with teammates evident.
It remains to be seen if he can lead the club up front next season, with Higuain almost certain to come in.
