GREAT NEWS – Arsenal Set To COMPLETE Second Summer Signing
Arsenal are close to landing Napoli defender Faouzi Ghoulam after tabling a bid of £7.7 million to the Italian club for his services, as per Metro.
A report from Spanish publication Marca today is claiming Ghoulam has agreed a deal with Arsenal, and the move will likely be completed next week.
Chelsea and Real Madrid are among the suitors for the 24-year old Napoli defender, but now it has been revealed that Ghoulam might be playing at the Emirates next season.
French Champions, PSG, are also keen on the speedy left-back who they see as a replacement for Liverpool-bound Lucas Digne.
Mundo Deportivo, another Spanish paper, had said last month that Atletico have held ‘exploratory’ talks with the Algerian, but now the talks appeared to have been fruitless.
Arsene Wenger wants to replace Nacho Monreal, who the aforementioned source has revealed is also nearing a move to Spain with Athletic Bilbao.
Ghoulam has been heavily linked to the Gunners since the beginning of the summer transfer window, with English, Italian and Spanish media outlets reporting the news.
The 24-year old left back was hugely impressive for Napoli last season, leading to interests from the European super clubs mentioned earlier.
According to Squawka, Ghoulam – whose contract with Napoli runs out in 2018 – made only one defensive error last season in Serie A, which is very impressive for a defender who loves to move forward and support Napoli’s attack.
The ex-Saint Etienne marker’s strength lies in his ‘marauding runs’, which was a feature in his team’s game plan last season. This, as per Squawka, led him to creating 23 chances which was the highest for any defender in the Serie A last term.
Ghoulam will now complete a move to the Emirates once Monreal’s transfer to Bilbao is done.
