ADEBAYOR To Chelsea

High rated striker flies into London, to sign for Chelsea ahead of January window

Chelsea could have for themselves a new striker in the mould and built of club icon, Didier Drogba, as EPL veteran striker, Emmanuel Adebayor, could arrive at Stamford Bridge come January. The African star was released from White Hart Lane prior to the beginning of the season due to his family problems, and has since become a free agent.

Currently training back at home on the African continent, the 31 year-old is set to return to action by winter after a half-year hiatus from the game and is reportedly set to head back to England this week in order to have talks as per negotiations for a new club. Jose Mourinho is a keen admirer of the ex-Togo international, and he had plans to get the bulky forward during summer as a replacement for the departing Drogba.

Both had forged a great working relationship at the Santiago Bernabeu when the Portuguese acquired him on a loan from the Etihad stadium, and could once again link up at the Bridge. The former Tottenham striker is well-seasoned in terms of playing at the EPL since his arrival over a decade ago and remains a quality option for Chelsea’s fumbling frontline.

Currently his country’s all time highest goal scorer, Adebayor has 96 EPL League goals from his days at Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham and will come handy as a replacement cum backup at Chelsea if a deal eventually works out. The trio of Costa, Remy and Falcao are currently under performing, and the club will do well to get fresh legs for the second half of the season in order to realize the aspirations of ending in top 4 come May.
