Reports emanating from Europe indicate strongly that English Premier league champions, Chelsea are looking to upend Arsenal and snatch a deal for AS Roma star, Alessio Romagnoli.
The 20 year-old defender, who has been declared wanted by many of Europe’s top clubs- after eye-catching performances with the AS Roma first-team- was reportedly close to joining Arsenal recently. Gunners coach Arsene Wenger allegedly confessed to be keen to land the player, and reports even suggest that the Gunners may have tabled a £24.4 million bid for the player, which Roma have however failed to confirm or deny.
At the moment, given the Gunners’ seeming unwillingness to rush the player’s deal, Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho, would look to snap him up from right under their noses, according to unconfirmed reports. Mourinho is allegedly set to table a bid of around £25 million plus troubled winger Mohammed Salah, to tempt the young defender into joining the Stamford Bridge party. Such an offer would definitely soften the hearts of the Roma hierarchy; and as such, a deal may well be on the horizon.
