“I Had A Meeting With Wenger” Claims Pacy Defender Wanted By Barca

Arguably the best right-back in the Premier League at the moment, Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin is enjoying himself this season with some decent performances for the north London club, and on Tuesday night against an in-form Bayern Munich – who pundits and fans alike have tipped to whitewash the Gunners – the Spaniard delivered the cross which led to the second Arsenal goal by Mesut Ozil with the Premier League side winning 2-0 in the Champions League encounter.

Bellerin, 20, joined Arsenal in the summer of 2011 at the age of 16 and penned his first professional contract with the club in 2013. However, he was farmed out on a short loan spell to then Championship side Watford, playing mainly as a winger

Fast forward to this season, Bellerin has established himself as a first-choice right-back under Arsene Wenger at the Emirates stadium, dislodging Mathieu Debuchy.

When quizzed on what Wenger first said to him, Bellerin replied: “At that meeting, with my little bit of English [he laughs], he told me that if I made progress he would give me a chance, and so it proved.”

Truly, Wenger has fulfilled his promise. At just 20, Bellerin has made 28 Premier League appearances for the north London club, breaking into the first team last season.

The Spain Under-21 star made his first start for Arsenal in September 2014 in the Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund at the Westfalenstadion, due to injuries to Mathieu Debuchy, Calum Chambers and Nacho Monreal.
