“I Will Play For Arsenal Next Season” Confirms £75,000-A-Week Spaniard

Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal has dismissed suggestions he is set to join Athletic Bilbao this summer, saying he is very happy at the club.

A report from Marca earlier today claimed Monreal was on his way back to the La Liga with Bilbao, with Napoli’s Faouzi Ghoulam targeted as the Spaniard’s replacement.

However, as per Metro, Monreal has “dampened” talks of an exit, and has hinted he intends to stay at Arsenal next season and replicate his last season form.

“I’m very happy at Arsenal”, he was speaking to Goal while on tour in Singapore.

“Of course I enjoyed playing in a lot of the games last season and that is the target again – that is all I can say right now.

“When you play for Arsenal you know they are one of the biggest clubs in England but, here in Singapore, you see they are also one of the biggest clubs in the world.”

Squawka’s Daniel Anwar reported that Monreal improved virtually on every facet of his game the previous season. He won more aerial duels, tackles and made more interceptions without making any errors at the back (via Bleacher Report).

The former Osasuna and Malaga ace was impressive for the Gunners last term, displacing Kierran Gibbs at the Arsenal left-back position.

This news, coupled with Petr Cech’s addition will therefore make the Arsenal supporters optimistic that the club will enjoy another successful season.

Arsenal are also in the hunt for Man City striker, Edin Dzeko who is also a reported AS Roma target.
