Manchester United made a bid for Yuto Nagatomo, but he chose to stay in Italy. The club tried to lure him to England but the defender chose to stay at Inter Milan.
Louis van Gaal, United manager, has struggled to put up a strong defensive line-up this season due to multiple injuries. His side is currently trailing top four by six points, and so far seems to be missing out on Champions League.
In a recent interview with Inter’s in-house television channel, Nagatomo revealed how he turned down the opportunity to play at Old Trafford.
‘I like everything about Inter, I want to stay here and renew my contract,’ said Nagatomo. ‘I turned down an offer from Manchester United, as my desire is to stay here. I have an excellent rapport with Roberto Mancini.’
The 29-year-old prefers Inter over Manchester United and revealed how he is enjoying his time at the Serie A club.
‘I’m having a great time, though I had the most fun with Wesley Sneijder, Marco Materazzi, Javier Zanetti and Antonio Cassano.
‘Marco taught me Italian, including a few swearwords! Now I do some yoga exercises with Samir Handanovic before a game.’
