Jorge Mendes, Jose Mourinho’s agent, was reported to be at Manchester, while his other client, Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, was across Manchester at Etihad Stadium watching his Real Madrid side played out a goal-less draw against Manchester City in the Champions League semi-final first-legged tie.
In addition, he is also the agent for Benifica man and United target Renato Sanches. It is reported that they are close to sealing a deal for him in a £40m move.
Mendes was spotted at Hotel Football in Manchester, with claims that he met with a Salford City player and owner ahead of their Northern Premier League Play Off semi-final against Ashton United on Tuesday evening.
He has been pictured with ex-United player Danny Webber, who is playing for Salford now, and owner Peter Lim.
Singapore owner Peter Lim, who owns 50 percent of the stake, has good connections with the class of ‘92 players, including Ryan Giggs, Phil Neville, Gary Neville, Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes as part owner of the non-league side.
It is rumoured that Mendes may have touched base over the prospect of Giggs staying on if Mourinho is installed as Old Trafford boss as Louis van Gaal’s successor.
Despite a less than impressive season showing in the Premier League, it may boils down to whether Van Gaal manage to help the Manchester club lift the FA cup.
