Jackson Martinez to Chelsea in January? Latest Unexpected Update

Balague also provided update on the future of Atletico striker Jackson Martinez. Martinez has emerged as Chelsea’s target and his agent has previously confirmed the Blues’ interest in his client.

The Colombian signed for Atletico from Porto in a €35 million deal. He found it hard to settle in his new club in the beginning, but Balague has suggested that the player is showing improvement in his form.

Balague adds that if the player continues to show progression, his future lies with Atletico.

He added: “Jackson Martinez is playing better. If he continues progressing he has a career at Atletico. Not just him, but Vietto and Saul have helped Atletico coming from the bench in the last five games.”

Martinez has made 13 league appearances for the La Liga club this season and has scored two goals and provided two assists.

Atletico Madrid currently sits at the top of the La Liga table, however, second placed Barcelona have a game in hand.
