John Stones Leaving Everton in a £40m Transfer
Chelsea have been delivered another setback in their much-talked about pursuit of Everton defender John Stones. According to The Sun, La Liga giants, Real Madrid, have entered the race to sign the 21-year old central defender.
The Blues failed in their attempts to sign the England international after their bid of £37 million was rejected by the Toffees in the summer. They have been rumoured to go back for the player with an improved bid of £40 million this month.
The Merseyside club have, time and time again, iterated their desire to hold on to their star player and have maintained that he is a part of their future plans.
However, it can’t be said with certainty if they would be able to ignore a massive bid from one of the football powerhouses. Stones submitted a transfer request in the summer, which was turned down by the club, and his future destination will very much depend on his willingness to continue with the Toffees.
If the push comes to shove, the Merseyside would prefer to sell their player to a non-English club.
