Jones & Evans To Start – Manchester United Likely Line Up For WBA

Manchester United will file out against West Brom on Monday evening with more confidence than they have ever felt since the beginning of this season. The Old Trafford outfit struggled all through last season but showed financial strength in the summer transfer market. However even with the admirable work ethic of the new entrants, the squad had been shaky with several senior players nursing various kind of injuries at one point or the other.

Of recent, the red side of Manchester has been set agog with the good news about the likes of Michael Carrick, Phil Jones and even Ander Herrera returning to light training. This jubilant atmosphere could have been fuelled by the fact that many fans believe that if a squad so ravaged with injury could make it into the first four, then they couldn’t but imagine the exploits that the Red Devils will do now that their regular defenders are available.

More so, who says the three man defence that Louis van Gaal prefers won’t work with the team, well, you’d have to think again now that the Dutchman has at his disposal almost all of his first team regulars. Although, Louis van Gaal might not want to risk the wrath of the fans with a 3-5-2 formation now that better results are produced from the conventional 4-defender formation and as such I will attempt a prediction of the possible line-up to look out for on Monday night assuming that the Dutch adopts the 4-defender and diamond midfield formation.

In goal will be the indomitable David De Gea who is now the toast of the club since when he produced a wonderful performance to ensure a Red Devil victory over Everton last EPL week. In the defence section, Louis van Gaal will attempt a reshuffle with Phil Jones and Jonny Evans joining the fold. So it could most likely be Phil who will partner Marcos Rojo in the centre-back position while Luke Shaw and Rafael handle business on the flanks. In the midfield, Michael Carrick should anchor just in front of Daley Blind giving Angel Di Maria more space to pull strings in a brilliant style. In the absence of team captain Wayne Rooney, embattled Spaniard, Juan Mata will mostly likely fill in behind the double strike force, although the manager might be considering other options especially as the former Chelsea man has been anything both encouraging in recent times and could just hand Adnan Januzaj his first start this season. It will be recalled that young Adnan worked his way to fame when he inspired Manchester United to 2 victories last season.

Upfront, the selection of Radamel Falcao and Robin Van Persie is a no brainer as James Wilson has not the quality to unseat either of them. Finally, this selection is about the strongest that the manager can come up with considering what he has at the moment and if all goes as planned, Manchester United should get another win at the Hawthorns.
