Karim Benzema Is Off To Arsenal, Wenger Has Spoken To Him Personally

Regardless of what various media outlets have claimed, Spanish newspaper AS and Guillem Ballague who works as a journalist for the publication have said Karim Benzema’s move to Arsenal is not certain. According to them per Sport Witness, the reasons are that Real Madrid want to keep the player and Arsenal are not willing to table a mammoth offer for the striker.

This is somewhat strange considering several reports that Arsenal and Arsene Wenger are ready to offer anything it takes to land the France international striker and with Italian journalist Emanuele Gialunelli also tweeting on his Twitter page that Benzema has agreed and signed a four-year deal worth €9m per year, we are in for a really twisting drama to this transfer.

However, the report from another Spanish broadsheet Sport is in contrast to that of AS. The Catalan-based publication claims Arsenal are “excited at the prospect of signing Karim Benzema”, which is undoubtedly what Arsenal fans would love to hear. Sport Witness says some Arsenal fans have been sent into frenzy as they displayed their emotions on Twitter, as this is coming a day after Giulanelli had claimed Benzema to Arsenal is a done deal.

Sport went further to add that a certain Julian Maldonado on Twitter yesterday said Arsenal have initiated talks with Benzema.

“The reality is that Wenger is calling him personally for some time to try to convince him,” said Maldonado.

Great news for Arsenal fans then, albeit it sounds different from Spanish football expert Graham Hunter’s view that Benzema to Arsenal is doable if the player tells Madrid he wants to leave. But it is indeed a good development.
