Klopp To Make €28m Offer For Bundesliga Star, Man United To Lose Out
Liverpool have been linked with a transfer for a number of players in the past but in recent times, the transfer news have been filled with Liverpool rumors, especially under the recently signed manager Jurgen Klopp and fans are just waiting to see who will make the squad by the January transfer window or the next summer transfer window.
Back in the summer of 2014, Liverpool were linked with a move for Borussia Mönchengladbach defensive midfielder Granit Xhaka but the transfer did not materialise. However, recent reports are claiming that Jurgen Klopp is planning a significant January offer for the Switzerland midfielder.
According to German newspaper Bild, “Xhaka is on Jurgen Klopp’s wanted list, and Liverpool are planning €28 million January bid for the player.”
The only snag is that according to Mönchengladbach Sporting Director, Max Eberle, just recently claimed that Xhaka is ‘one of the best players in the Bundesliga’ and the 23-year-old defensive midfielder just recently extended his contact until 2019, and his new deal contains a €30m buyout clause but this is one that Liverpool could be ready to meet with ease.
However, the player is known for a serious lack of discipline and this might not be well received in the English Premier League. He has a record of 27 yellow cards in the last two completed seasons, and 8 yellows in 16 games so far this season which equals 35 yellow cards and five suspension since the start of the 2013-14 season and Gladbach manager Lucien Favre says about this that, “I’m doing my best to change aspects of Granit’s combative behavior on the pitch. He is making progress, but it will take a while.”
Although Liverpool fans have been calling for a new DM for a while now, still this might not be the best move for the Reds. It remains to be seen what happens with this player.
