La Liga Transfer Roundup

From Ronaldo to Verratti, here are some of the biggest confirmed transfers and transfer rumours from around Spain.

Barcelona

The Spanish giants have been quiet early on in the summer, however, they continue to be strongly linked with PSG midfielder Marco Verratti. Hector Bellerin is also linked with a move back to Barcelona, having grown up through La Masia, with the same going for Gerard Deulofeu, who will most likely be back up to the front three.

Espanyol

The major transfers in Espanyol are the arrivals of Pablo Piatti from Valencia and Diego Lopez from AC Milan. Both players arrive permanently having spent last season on loan with the club. Piatti impressed last season, scoring 10 and assisting 11, helping Espanyol to an eighth-place finish. Meanwhile, Diego Lopez will provide experience between the sticks, having spent time at Milan and Real Madrid previously.

Real Madrid

The big story at the capital is of course, where will Cristiano Ronaldo end up? Manchester United and PSG remain the only two likely destinations and the only two that can afford the 32-year-old. Ronaldo himself has hinted he would be interested in a return to Old Trafford, and is interested in working with Jose Mourinho again, despite their turbulent relationship at Madrid. Only time will tell if Ronaldo returns to Manchester, or if the whole scandal ends with a bumper new contract at Madrid.

Sevilla

Sevilla’s biggest challenge will be replacing the players which got them to fourth in the table last season. Attacking duo Luciano Vietto and Stevan Jovetic both return their parent clubs, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan. Sevilla have ruled out a permanent deal for Jovetic who scored six and assisted four in the league. In midfield, Samir Nasri returns to Manchester City while Matias Kranevitter also returns to Atletico. Winger Yevhen Konoplyanka leaves for Schalke for €12.5 million after spending last season on loan with the Bundesliga side.

No confirmed arrivals yet, however, it is reported that Sevilla are close to completing a deal for Nolito after just one year at Manchester City.

Valencia

Valencia are another club who have been busy already as they look to provide stability after a turbulent few seasons. Simone Zaza arrives for €16 million after scoring six goals on loan for Valencia last season, while Fabian Orellana also arrives from Celta Vigo.

Villarreal

Villarreal have gone about their business well so early in the transfer window, with highly-rated Portuguese defender Ruben Semedo joining for a reported €14 million from Sporting Lisbon. 20-year-old striker Enes Unal also joins from Manchester City. The youngster spent last season on loan at FC Twente, scoring an impressive 18 goals in 32 Eredivisie games.
