Latest Injury Update – Koscienly, Bellerin, Walcott, Chamberlain & Others

The North London Derby is on Sunday, and Arsenal will be hoping to bounce back from their heavy Champions League defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich yesterday. The German giants thrashed Arsenal 5 – 1 after having been defeated 2 – 0 at the Emirates a fortnight ago.

The defeat saw Arsenal sit at the bottom of the table after having gathered just 3 points out of a possible 12. They now face an uphill task of getting 3 points against Tottenham so as to remain on top of the table, but they might have to do it without 2 regulars of their back line as Hector Bellerin and Laurent Koscielny aren’t likely to feature.

Speaking after the game in Germany, the coach stated that the right back might not be available for the game while Koscielny’s chances of appearing are small. Hector picked up a knock on his groin before the match on Wednesday night, while Koscielny was ruled out due to a minor hip problem.

Their absence in the defeat, which is Arsenal’s heaviest in Europe was felt as the duo of Per and Debuchy couldn’t keep the Bayern attackers at bay like the injured duo did a fortnight ago. They will have to perform better against the tough Tottenham team that has lost just 1 out of 11 League games this season.

Their injury adds to the growing list of Arsenal’s first team players injuries, with the likes of Danny Welbeck, Tomas Rosicky, Aaron Ramsey, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott, Mikel Arteta, David Ospina, and Jack Wilshere all currently sidelined. A repeat of Wednesday performance will likely hand Arsenal another defeat as the coach has warned, and a win or lose could have an impact on their title aspirations.
