Latest Unexpected Development in Alex Teixeira Transfer to Liverpool

Liverpool’s hopes of making another bid for Shakhtar Donetsk forward Alex Teixeira in summer have suffered a major blow following reports that Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande are keen on the Brazilian forward.

Liverpool failed to sign the 26-year-old striker after baulking at Shakhtar Donetsk’s valuation of the player.

Although Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has moved to defend his side by claiming that they have enough money to spend but they just want work respectfully and responsibly – probably in the summer, their hopes of securing the services of the Brazilian had been shaken by Guangzhou Evergrande.

It was revealed in the last transfer window that Teixeira has a £53 million release clause on his contract, but the Red were not forthcoming in meeting that price tag.

And according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Guangzhou Evergrande are now keen to secure the services of Teixeira next summer after signing Jackson Martinez from Atletico Madrid at £32 million.
