Liverpool CLOSE To Three New Signings

It is needless to say last season was nothing short of a nightmare for Liverpool. After scaling up to the dizzy heights of a second-place finish the previous season, the Reds fell all the way down to sixth last season. However, the club have acted swiftly to put right all the mistakes of last season and have already announced deals for five new players , with several more on the cards. Here we take a look at the three players who may join the club as early as the next week.

  1. Nathaniel Clyne

Liverpool have reportedly agreed a £12.5 million fee with Southampton for the services of the 24-year-old England International and a formal announcement is expected early next week when the player returns from holiday. Clyne will be expected to shore up the right-back spot, which has for long been a problem position for Liverpool. He is expected to sign a five year deal at Anfield . At 24, he has his best years ahead of him and the Reds have got themselves a bargain. Clyne was available this summer after entering into the final year of his deal at Southampton and having refused to sign an extension.

  1. Mateo Kovacic

According to several reports in the Italian Press, Liverpool are close to agreeing a £21 million fee with Inter for the transfer of highly rated Craotian International midfielder Mateo Kovacic to Anfield. Brendan Rodgers has reportedly identified  the young Inter midfielder as the long term replacement for the departing club captain and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard. Liverpool have already had an earlier bid of around £15 million rejected for the player. However , the arrival of Geoffrey Kondogbia from AS Monaco to Inter has paved the way for Kovacic to move to Liverpool.Young, technically sound and comfortable in multiple positions , Kovacic fits the bill perfectly as a Brendan Rodgers player . An announcement is soon expected and is sure lay down a marker than Liverpool will be a force to consider next season.

  1. Carlos Bacca

From witnessing one of the best striker partnerships in English League history playing for their club to watching Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert struggle for goals – it was a rude wake-up call to every Liverpool fan. Hence the news that the Reds are after the signature of Colombian International and Sevilla striker Carlos Bacca would be a welcome respite for every Liverpool fan. Bacca was lethal last season , scoring 28 goals for Sevilla and winning the Golden Boot in the Europa League. His agent has also reportedly paved the way for a move by claiming that Liverpool feature in a list of clubs the striker would be willing to join this summer. The Anfield Club are hoping to wrap up the deal as soon as possible to avoid the possibility of a rival hijacking the transfer for the much coveted hitman.
