Liverpool Have Identified Simon Mignolet’s Replacement – 16-year-old is Already No.1 Goalkeeper at AC Milan

Liverpool have joined several European clubs in the race of signing young AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, according to reports in Italy.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are reported to be only English Premier League clubs interested in the 16-year-old shot-stopper.

The 16-year-old made his first-team debut earlier this season and has since made 17 appearances in Serie A for the Italian giants, keeping six clean sheets this season.

According to reports, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is believed to be considering alternatives to current first-choice goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, who has recently shown a string of inconsistent performances for this remaining half of the season.

Despite Donnarumma’s young age, he has already managed to establish himself between the sticks at Milan and already overtaking Diego Lopez by featuring on a regular basis for his side.

Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has confirmed that the young goalkeeper will not leave the club and they will resist all attempts from Europe’s elite to sign him.

“Donnarumma is 16 years old, he is admired by all and he won’t leave Milan, whatever offer might come in,” he explained.

“He will be the Milan goalkeeper for the next 20 years. He is a good lad, very strong physically, mentally and in terms of his character. I think he can be a Milan star of the future.”
Although Liverpool are the latest European club to join the race, Jürgen Klopp is determined to lure the young goalkeeper to Anfield.
