Liverpool Injury News – Sturridge Set For Quick & Surprising Return To Action

Liverpool have received a much-needed encouraging boost ahead of the new campaign with the news that injury-plagued striker Daniel Sturridge will be making a return from the hip surgery which sidelined him for the larger part of the last campaign, with the player likely to feature in the match against Man United early September.

Sturridge missed a large chunk of last season and instead spent more time in the treatment room as a number of injuries limited him to only seven league starts, which was a far cry for the Englishman’s record the previous season as he bagged an impressive 21goals which almost secured the title for Liverpool.

Last season, Liverpool suffered in the 25-year old’s absence coupled with Mario Balotelli abysmal performances as they scored 52 Premier League goals in total and missed out on a top-four finish.

According to talkSPORT, Sturridge is expected to return to Liverpool’s Melwood training ground later this month after spending the summer in the USA recuperating from the surgery.

Christian Benteke and Danny Ings have arrived from Aston Villa and Burnley respectively this summer and with Sturridge’s imminent return and hopefully if he hits top form, Liverpool should mount a serious title challenge.

With the 24-year old Benteke also having put up impressive displays in the last pre-season game, the Kops will no doubt be guaranteed of lots of goals.

Sturridge will now be hoping to play a part in Liverpool’s crunch fixture against United on September 12.
