Liverpool On The Set To Complete Transfer Of £80,000-A-Week World Cup Star

According to the Daily Mail, new AC Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is interested in the services of Liverpool forgotten man, Lucas Leiva.

The 28-year old has fallen out of favour at Anfield over the years after struggling with fitness issues ans form. However, upon returning to fitness this season, he has been completely left out of the matchday squads for Liverpool’s opening campaign.

The Daily Mail now reports that the tenacious Brazilian defensive midfielder is surplus to requirements and is currently fifth choice in the pecking order. Lucas currently has two years left on his current deal at the club but with first team minutes hard to come by, it appears that he would be seeking a move elsewhere to guarantee playing time. With AC Milan reportedly interested in his services as they seek to bolster their midfield, it would be wise for the Brazilian to move on.

However, Juventus have also been credited with an interest as they see the midfielder as a backup to Sami Khedira who is currently sidelined with a leg injury that is set to keep him out for months according to the Daily Mail.

Lucas is currently the longest serving player at the club following the departure of legend Steven Gerrard. Despite his on field presence limited, he still remains an influential figure in the dressing room.

The Mail report that Liverpool are looking for a figure in the region of £8 million for the Brazilian who has spent eight years at the club.
