Liverpool Plot Sensation Bid For Arsenal And Chelsea Target Marco Reus

With Raheem Sterling’s departure to Manchester City finally confirmed for a fee of £49 million, Rodgers finds himself in a bit of a conundrum as to whether to sign someone who is a like-for-like replacement for the 20-year-old , or to splash the cash on a world class striker that can solve the Reds’ scoring woes of last season.

His problem is further intensified by the fact that in 19-year-old Jordon Ibe, Liverpool may already have a player within their ranks capable of replacing the much maligned England winger. After impressing in his stint in the first team last term, Ibe looks primed for an extended run in the first team and some at Merseyside already claim that the player already has more potential than his predecessor.

Well, the simple answer to this conundrum lies somewhere in between. What the Reds actually need is a player who is capable enough to be the creative lynchpin of the team and also has the ruthlessness in front of the goal to match his creativity. Someone who is a hybrid of Suarez and Sterling, more pacy and direct than the Uruguayan and a better finisher than the young England International.

With reports emerging in the Metro linking the Reds with a sensational £46 million swoop for Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus, it seems Christmas has come early for the Reds’ faithful. The outlet have claimed that the Reds are planning to use the £49 million windfall from Sterling’s sale to lure the German International to Anfield. Reus has been consistently linked with a move to Anfield over the last few months , but the rumors had died down after the 26-year-old signed an extension with the Die Schwarzgelben last season.

However, the Reds believe a big money offer can tempt Dortmund into the sale of their prized asset and are therefore preparing a mammoth £46 million bid for his services.

If the Anfield outfit succeed in landing Reus, they will have pulled off a gargantuan coup in the market. Widely regarded as one of the best players in the world, Reus has the ability to walk into any team in Europe and make it even better. Capable of playing as a striker, an attacking midfielder and also as a wide forward, he will be an excellent acquisition and has the potential to immediately transform the Reds from Premier League also-rans to genuine title contenders.

With 11 goals and 6 assists for Dortmund in just 24 appearances last season , Reus is extremely efficient in front of the net, and will be a huge upgrade on Raheem Sterling. Even if Rodgers plans to use Ibe in that role next season, Reus is capable of slotting in as the world class striker Liverpool desperately need.

Reds fans all over the world will be salivating at the prospect of the highly regarded German International donning their famous jersey. A combination of Reus, Firmino and Sturridge as the forward line with Coutinho threading passes from behind will be an absolute nightmare for the Premier League defences. However, for the Reds fans, it will be a stuff of dreams.

Now only if Ian Ayre can work his magic again….
