Chelsea are closing in on the deal for PSG forward Ezequiel Lavezzi, according to sources.
The Blues want to bring the Argentinean international to Stamford Bridge this month and are set to talk to the player’s representatives next week.
Italian source Premium Sports report that Premier League club officials are set to meet the player’s agent, Alejandro Mazzoni, in London next week to talk out a possible move.
talkSPORT has also linked Liverpool with the player while other reports claim that Serie A clubs Inter Milan and Juventus are also interested in the services of the 30-year old.
Lavezzi’s current deal with the Ligue 1 champions expire in the summer, and the Serie A clubs are interested in signing the player as a free agent in the summer. This gives an edge to the West London club who are ready to play a nominal fee to PSG in order to secure Lavezzi’s services in January.
As of now, Chelsea only have Premier League rivals Liverpool to compete for the signing, but they are confident of reaching a conclusion during the meeting with the player’s agent next week.
Lavezzi joined PSG from Napoli in 2012 for a transfer fee of €26.5 million.
