Liverpool To Place €20m Bid For La Liga Defender

Liverpool are yet again one of the most bullish clubs in the transfer market this summer as they looking to sign Spanish defender Inigo Martinez. The Reds have already tabled a bid of €20 million for the Real Sociedad centre back, reports the Marca.

The 23-year-old ascended the grades of Real Sociedad’s youth team but was brought into lime-light following his impressive two year spell with the B team of Sociedad. And since 2011, the player has become a mainstay in the first team of his club and has equally earned a call up to the Spanish national team.

According to the report, the player will only be allowed to move away from the club if his €30 million release clause is met. It is understood that Liverpool has already seen a bid rejected by David Moyes as he claims the player is indispensable to his side.

The Marca claims Liverpool will return with a second bid for the player and they offer him a pay rise and hope he would not be able to resist the allure of the Premier League and increased wage.

Martinez can play in the left back position as well as in the centre back. He will offer more option to Rodgers who is looking to get back to top-four position after several seasons of transfer activities. Martin Skrtel and Kolo Toure are currently aging and there is need to bolster the defence of Liverpool.

However, Liverpool will face competition for the player’s signature from Real Madrid, Manchester City and Barcelona.
