Liverpool Transfers Amidst Deadline Day – Joel Matip, Alvaro Morata, Gary Cahill

Jurgen Klopp

With only a day remaining until the transfer window closes, Liverpool continue their hunt for new signings. Club’s manager spoke after their draw against West Ham, regarding the return of players from injury and possibility of new additions.

‘Hopefully, one player or other will come back from injury in the next few weeks and then we’ll have enough players’, said Jürgen Klopp.

‘For what happens in the transfer market, you have to wait in the next 48 hours and we will see if something happens or not.’

According to Telegraph, Schalke defender, Joel Matip might be making a move to Anfield. He has been encouraged to make the move by former Real Madrid centre-back, Christoph Metzelder.

Metzelder said, ‘Joel is free.  If the interest is from England and he wants to have an experience abroad, then Liverpool is a super destination for him.’

Matip’s contract is due to expire this summer, hence a move in the coming days is unlikely and Liverpool might wait until the summer to acquire his services once his contract expires.

According to news in Italy, Liverpool is heading the race to sign Spanish striker, Alvaro Morata. The 23-year-old seems to have rediscovered his old form for Juventus. The former Real Madrid star has scored four goals in five days.

Madrid has a buy-back Claus in the contract, and even though Liverpool are leading the race to sign the striker, Juventus are unlikely to sell the player, especially on deadline day.

Gary Cahill, who finds himself out-of-favour at Chelsea, has been thinking of moving out of Stamford Bridge, but the Blues have refused to let him leave despite signing yet another defender, Matt Miazga from New York Red Bulls. Cahill has been suggested to move to Liverpool, but a last day move to Anfield is unlikely.

There is no solid news about new additions to the Liverpool squad but the fans can expect final day drama from the German manager.
