Liverpool Trio Benteke, Firmino, Lovren Back Training To Give Klopp Injury Boost Ahead Of Rubin Kazan Clash

The Reds have been given a boost ahead of the Europa League clash against Rubin Kazan this Thursday – new manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Benteke, Firmino and Lovren are back to training with the first team.

Christian Benteke picked up a hamstring injury over three week ago, while Firmino has been nursing a back ache but to the delight of the German tactician, he’s players are gradually returned.

The news was confirmed by the official twitter handle of Liverpool. Thus,

“@LFC: Jürgen confirms Christian Benteke, Roberto Firmino and Dejan Lovren are back in training.”

Klopp was appointed after the sack of Brendan Rodgers earlier in this month. He inherited a squad filled with injured players that are currently struggling for fitness. In the media briefing preceding the match against Tottenham last week, Klopp said Benteke, Firmino and Lovren may be in contention against Southampton.

“We have three other players back in training, with Benteke, Firmino and Lovren,” he said. “That’s good. We have more options. They’re not really starting options, but we have a squad.

“We have to think about that. We see what we need for this game and who we’ll take with us and who will stay for training. It’s good for us that these players are back.”

Several players are still sidelined with injuries including Sturridge, Henderson, Gomez and Danny Ings and we hope they come back to action soon.
