Louis Van Gaal “Wants” Thomas Muller At Old Trafford, Deal Very POSSIBLE

TalkSPORT have quoted Jamie Jackson, the Guardians Manchester football correspondent that Louis van Gaal desperately wants to sign German attacker, Thomas Muller from Bayern Munich.

The German international had a decent return of 13 goals and 10 assists in 32 games as Bayern lifted the Bundesliga last season.

This summer has seen United lose most of their attacking players thus making them short of options in attack. They are currently left with club captain, Wayne Rooney and young forward, James Wilson as true center forwards in the first team. Mexican, Javier Hernandez who spent last season on loan at Real Madrid is currently sidelined with injury and his future is in limbo after LvG described him as surplus to requirements last season and it is yet to be seen if he has retracted on his words.

A link to attacker, Thomas Muller who current manager, Louis van Gaal worked with during his spell at the Alianz Arena makes sense from a football perspective. The 25-year old can play as a lone striker, as a deep lying forward in a two striker system and also on the flanks without a reduction in his potency and eye for goal as witnessed at the last World Cup held in Brazil. His versatility would play into LvG’s game plan as he employed different systems last season.

Jamie Jackson while speaking to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show said ” The one Van Gaal wants is Thomas Muller but having sold Bastian Schweinsteiger this summer, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said he won’t sell another big player to United”.

Furthermore, he pointed out the politics that would complicate the deal happening.

“It’s a bit difficult politically for that one to happen but I think Muller is open to considering the move and you never know in football”.
