The teeming supporters of Manchester United went agog last Monday when news broke that club’s chief Executive; Ed Woodward was in Spain to watch the La Liga curtain-raiser between Barcelona and Athletico Madrid in other to discuss a deal with Barcelona that will see Man United’s Long-term transfer target jump the ship over to the fortress of Old Trafford.
It is understood that Ed Woodward told a fan while on the plane to Spain that he was going for a scouting mission.
However, in an unpleasant news for United supporters yesterday, it was confirmed that Chelsea had briskly captured their top target of the season. Also, earlier in the summer, Nicolas Ottamendi was heavily linked with the Red Devils but he is now a player of Manchester City (As per Mirror). This has left so much to be desired by the United supporters.
Earlier in the summer, Woodward won the trust of United fans when they successfully captured Morgan Schniederlin, Memphis Depay and Bastian Schweinsteiger but United officials had initially struggled in 2013 when they replaced David Gill as a result of his failure in securing Cesc Fabregas for Moyes. They are now wary of Woodward’s inefficiency.
Louis van Gaal is still rebuilding and with the sale of his forwards, Di Maria, Robin Van Persie and Radamel Falcao, he will need to do some businesses before the close of the window.
