Man Utd’s pursuit of Southampton winger Sadio Mane is under threat of being overtaken by city rivals Man City. The Red Devils have a long-term interest in the 23-year old and plan to pursue their interest further in the summer transfer window.
United made an unsuccessful bid for the winger in the summer transfer window. However, the Sun claims that the Citizens have also joined the race for the services of the Senegalese international.
According to the report, City director of football Txiki Begiristain has contacted Saints regarding the availability of their player and has asked them to inform him of any potential bid for the player.
Mane is valued at £25 million by his club. He arrived at St Mary’s Stadium in a £11.8 million deal from Red Bull Salzburg in 2014.
He has scored three goals and provided six assists in 25 league appearances for the Saints this season.
