Man United Set To Sign 21 Goals & 18 assists Striker, Offers Him €220,000-A-Week

Louis van Gaal has three top strikers – Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao in his ranks last season but presently, he is left with only one – Rooney. Dutchman van Persie has left for a new adventure in the Turkish League with Fenerbahce, while Falcao, who suffered an alarming loss of form at Old Trafford last season, is now on the wages book at Chelsea.

Thus, Manchester United are short of firepower upfront and as such must sign a top-class centre forward to boost their chances of any silverware this season. They have paid court to several European top stars including Bayern Munich’s prolific goalscorer Thomas Muller.

The Red Devils have robbed the Bundesliga champions of one of their coveted player Bastian Schweinsteiger earlier in the summer, and the Bayern hierarchy have confirmed they would not be selling any of their stars to the Premier League club anymore this summer.

That has not deterred United in their pursuit of Muller and they have revived their interest in the German World Cup winner, as per reports. According to the Telegraph, the Red Devils have offered £50m to Bayern for Muller’s services, and Metro’s position is that Louis van Gaal’s side have tabled a £7.1m-a-year offer to the 25-year old in order to convince him to join them.

Van Gaal was the one who gave Muller his debut for the Bavarian club when the Dutchman was in charge of Bayern and the German ace has admitted in the past he would love to work under the former Netherlands international manager once again.

Metro cites German magazine Kicker who claim Muller has a £160,000-a-week offer on ground from United, with van Gaal ardently chasing the renowned goal poacher.

Muller’s signing will send a huge statement of intent to United’s Premier League rivals that Louis van Gaal in indeed ready to return the club to its old days of glory.

The forward has been a consistent performer for both club and country. Last season, he managed an impressive haul of 21 goals and 18 assists in 48 games for Bayern.
