Man Utd have agreed to sign Lazio midfielder for £20million according to Italian media

Reports circulating in Italy claim that Manchester United have agreed to the purchase of Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia for a fee of around £20million. The transfer will go through when the window opens at the end of the season and it is set to be the first in a series of major moves.

Whether this move has anything to do with Jose Mourinho’s imminent arrival remains to be seen but if he is to take over he would surely want to be heavily involved in the transfer policy. This was one of the reasons he walked out on Chelsea for the first time.

Cash-strapped Lazio look set to cash in on the Argentine with Inter Milan also making moves to try and tempt the midfielder. Whilst Lazio have had an indifferent season, Biglia has played well and caught the eye of many scouts across Europe.

A host of European clubs, including Premier League rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City are also interested in signing the 30 year old as they look to strengthen their squads for the next season.

Corriere dello Sport first circulated the rumor regarding Biglia’s future and they claim that whoever has agreed to sign the Argentinian will finalize the move after the last game of the current season is played.

Manchester United could do with strengthening in the middle, as Michael Carrick looks set to move on and Bastian Schweinsteiger has not really impressed this year. Lucas Biglia might partner Morgan Schneiderlin in the centre.
